Help?! Male body image hypocrisy?

Okay, nowadays accepting women of heavier sizes has become a notion of increasing popularity: the thicker set body type has become an acceptable norm where no more excercise is required.

However with men, chubbier male bodies are still not an acceptable norm. For instance on Tyra, she had a bunch of plus size women get into lingerie and strut it: could chubby men with pots, man boobs and love handles walk on stage in their boxers? Probably not because the male figure doesn't take on fat very well.

Am I right in thinking MEN are in a more unfair position when it comes to body image and weight gain because a chubby man isn't considered a perfect figure (where no more excercise is required) as opposed to a chubby womans?

Should fat just be considered fat, should the right body image only be the one you get after healthy diet and excercise? Why is it women have an acceptable excuse for being lazy but not men?

As women have a naturally higher fat body mass, and also because women are more worried about their weight, there are more justifications in society why they should look like this. Many women will have more fat because of their lifestyle as looking after children is not as active as what an average mans job may be, so in the eyes of society, its more acceptable that a woman who 'should' be at home to have more fat than a man who 'should' be out working and being active. Which isnt even true and your right, its so hypocritical and wrong as neither men or women SHOULD be fat, and there is no justification at all why its okay for women to be killing themselves and getting away with it

The Importance of Father’s Day

There’s an idea about Father’s Day that still gets an airing every so often but really needs to be stamped out once and for all. What is this dated, negative notion? It’s the idea that Father’s Day is a commercial enterprise invented by card shops, gift shops, whiskey distillers and slipper tycoons in a dubious secret conspiracy and that it has no real historical foundation. The kind of person who puts this idea forward will traditionally have no problem at all with Mother’s Day (which is a bit weird). So do they therefore buy mothers, grannies and daughters birthday gifts but not fathers day gifts, granddads and sons? Of course not! Already their argument is beginning to lose strength.

Granted, Father’s Day is not as old as Mothering Sunday or even the “Mother’s Day” that has effectively replaced it. But Father’s Day isn’t as baseless as some think it is, and people are surprised to learn that it actually dates back to early twentieth century America and an enlightened soul called Sonora Smart Dodd (yes, a woman). She reasoned that fathers deserved the same recognition as mothers do and that a day in the church calendar should be set aside for it. But her story was a sad one.

Sonora’s mother died during the birth of her sixth child and so her father William had to raise the girl and her five siblings without any maternal assistance. It was after a Mothering Sunday service that Sonora approached the local ministry to suggest the new celebration, even going so far as to name a date – 5 June, her father’s birthday. The ministry liked the idea, but wanted the celebration to always fall on a Sunday, choosing the third Sunday of June. On 19 June 1910, fathers were finally given their very own day for the first time. Before long, the concept had spread over the whole state and nation, and eventually the world. Now the day is highlighted in every diary, calendar and gift shop window so we have no excuses to miss it!

So after such an auspicious and emotive start, why has it come to represent socks, a four-pack of beer and lingerie-print barbecue aprons? Because that’s what we think dads like, that’s why! While there’s a large number of dads who do appreciate such gifts, it’s certainly not all of them – we should never forget that nude print aprons are preferred by some.

There’s no doubt that fathers day gifts will always be part of the celebrations and that the day is no longer seen in a religious context by the majority of people. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t aim to trivialise the occasion. We should always remember that dad is a unique person with his own loves, interests and sense of humour, and aim to buy him a Father’s Day gift that is tuned in to his wavelength and reminds him of the original meaning of the day: letting him know he’s the best and taking the opportunity to say a heartfelt thank you for being such a faultless specimen.

Need help for my new lingerie line!?

Hello everyone,

I'm presently starting a new lingerie business that will be out in 2010. I can't seem to find a long lasting original name for my line. So I was wondering if anyone could help me out. Here's a few pointers that may make it easier:

-It's for women that were blessed with bigger breast, starting at from a DD cup an up. Not necessary the plus size women only. Any women who has big breast, the line is for them.

I would suggest a simple negligee: preferably somewhere between a baby doll and a full gown in length (mid-thigh to knee). Empire waistline, and plunging neckline, but not too extreme (don't want to look tawdry, do we?). As for colour, if the colour balance is accurate in the photos i've seen of you, i would recommend bone (or a similar off-white shade). Fabric should be silk (but not too shiny).

im an aspiring model and im just getting started i have the looks i have very sexy exotic features and what it takes to be a hot model my profession is in lingerie and swimsuit im looking to be more of urban model...so right now im working on a lingerie calendar for 2010 and my hopes with this calendar is to make some money and also get my face out there but im wondering if its a good idea or for some suggestions so please be kind enough to give me some positive opinions thanks

Seeing as you only want "positive" opinions you are not going to like this one much.

You have little or no chance of making any money with your own calendar.
There are a number of reasons for this.
1. unless you are taking the photographs yourself then you will not have copyright of the photographs. You will therefore have to pay for a photographer to a. take the shots and b. you will have to purchase usage rights to all the shots. This will be quite expensive.

2. printing costs for high quality calendars will be quite high

3. distribution. Have you got any outlets in mind. To sell enough copies to make money you will need to have a distribution network in place. This will take time and money to set up.

4. there are many "established" models and celebrity calendars on the market and often they are left on the shelves anyway.

Bottom line. you will not make money out of a "lingerie and swimsuit" calendar of an unknown model.
